4 Days, 4 Minutes, 4 Grand.

The Fernie 4 Film Fest is a four day, four minute film festival filmed at Fernie Alpine Resort. All teams are comprised of 4 individuals who have 4 straight days to create a 4 minute ski film at Fernie. This year we had 9 solid teams all gunning for a $4,000 Grand prize. Starting Thursday April 6th and ending Saturday April 9th, 2016, here's what the 9 teams came up with in just 4 days. What a time!

The People's Choice winner goes to: 3 Honkies and a Hoser. Congratulations guys, that means you have free entry into next years contest at Fernie Alpine Resort. We look forward to another succesful year. Until then, go shred some spring corn.

A bit of a background check from our interview with the Fernie Free Press:

The Fernie 4 is a competitive film festival where nine teams of pro skiers are spending four days (April 6th-9th) creating a four-minute edit at Fernie Alpine Resort.

What are the prizes? The winning team can choose to take home either $4,000 or our van!

Why did you choose Fernie? Has there been any feedback so far?
We chose Fernie for its world-class ski terrain and down-to-earth vibe. The feedback has been great; everyone in town from business owners to tourists have been very receptive to the event. The overall impression we've gotten is that people are excited to come see some films and get down at The Rusty Edge!

Who are some of the competitors and how many are there?
There are nine teams in total. There's the local favorites; the Burrrlapz crew, a team from Revelstoke, two from Jackson Hole, two from Bozeman, one from Salt Lake City, and a team from Big Sky that won the Wild Card Contest that we held with Teton Gravity Research earlier this year. Some of the names include Dylan Siggers, Dick Aspen, Spencer Harkins, Kyle Taylor, and Patrick Brown. You can check out some of the teams' videos online at fernie4.com.

What are some areas that will be shown in the videos?
All of the ski footage will be shot at Fernie Alpine Resort, but you'll also see some of the teams shooting story line footage around town.

Have you done something similar in other areas? What was feedback like?
We've done film festivals before, but The Fernie 4 is different. We've never done an event that showcases all fresh, original, local footage with only 4 days time to actually shoot, and edit. The teams have had an incredible week and I we can guarantee some creative and hilarious footage from all of the teams.

Thank you Teton Gravity and Fernie Alpine Resort for giving us the opportunity for a killer week in Fernie!
